  • 500 grams of old jengkol
  • Enough water
  • Right amount of oil

Seasoning Semur Jengkol Recipe

  • 5 grains onion
  • 5 cloves garlic
  • 10 grains candlenut
  • 5 pieces of cayenne pepper
  • 2 pieces large red chilies
  • 1 red tomato
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 2 stems lemongrass, crushed
  • 3 lemon leaves
  • 5 cm galangal, cut and crushed
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp of white sugar
  • 1/2 tsp pepper powder
  • 1 tsp powdered chicken stock
  • 4 tbsp of sweet soy sauce

How to make Semur Jengkol Recipe

  • Boil the jengkol until it’s tender, then peel the skin and make a crack
  • Puree the onion, garlic, hazelnut, cayenne pepper, red chili and tomato
  • Heat 3 tablespoons of cooking oil then saute the mashed spices
  • Add the bay leaves, lemongrass, lemon leaves and galangal, and then stir
  • After the fragrant and cooked spices, then add jengkol stir again
  • Then Add water until it closes the jengkol
  • Add salt, white sugar, pepper, powder broth and sweet soy sauce, then stir
  • Cook over low heat until the sauce thickens and the spices soak while stirring occasionally
  • Lift and serve
